Vaccinium corymbosum 'Duke' is an upright blueberry shrub, with small, ovate, dark green leaves, yellow and orange in autumn and waxy, bell-shaped, white flowers blooming in late spring. It blooms late, but the fruits ripen early. The abundance of large, firm, mildly sweet, light blue berries are ready for harvesting in mid-summer. Vaccinium corymbosum 'Duke' prefers organically rich, acidic, moist, well-drained soils in full sun or partial shade. Once established, tolerant of drought. It is very resistant to frost, but needs to be sheltered from harsh winter winds. It is self-fertile, but it is more productive when cross-pollinated, therefore, it’s good to have at least one more varety planted nearby. It can withstand coastal conditions and urban pollution. Mature plants require regular pruning. Blueberry 'Duke' is a very decorative shrub, perfect for shrub borders and informal hedges. Excellent for cottage, urban, woodland, and coastal gardens. Suitable for growing in containers.
