Prunus laurocerasus ‘Marbled White’ is an interesting, variegated variety of the English cherry laurel. It’s a large, dense, wide-spreading shrub of upright, pyramidal habit, with leathery, green and grey-green, creamy-white marbled, leaves, flushed with pink in winter. Spikes of small, fragrant, white flowers are produced in spring and followed by red berries turning black in autumn. Prunus laurocerasus ‘Marbled White’ prefers slightly deep, fertile, acidic, moist, well-drained soil. It thrives in full sun and partial shade, but is tolerant of full shade as well. It is resistant to frost and can withstand very low temperatures. May suffer from chlorosis when planted in poor, shallow, chalky soil. Low maintenance plant, tolerant of hard pruning. Prunus laurocerasus ‘Marbled White’ is perfect for hedges and screens in informal, cottage, coastal, and woodland gardens. Great for banks and slopes or as a groundcover. It can be pruned to shape and used as a specimen plant.
