Polystichum polyblepharum | Japanese Lace Fern - 55-60cm, 5lt

Polystichum polyblepharum is an evergreen fern with elegant, stiff, lustrous, lance-shaped, glossy, dark green fronds. It forms symmetrical, outward-spreading, vase-shape clumps or shuttlecocks. Fronds have finely divided, overlapping pinnae and are covered in golden hairs when they emerge in spring. Polystichum polyblepharum is fussy about the soil and will thrive only in fertile, humus-rich, loamy, consistently moist, well-drained soils. It prefers partial shade, but can also grow well in full shade. In poorly drained soils, especially in winter, a crown rot may occur. It doesn’t have any serious disease or pest problems. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning. Japanese Lace Fern is a beautiful, elegant, ornamental fern, perfect for shady, well-drained areas of the garden. Excellent for under-planting of roses and shrubs, great for foundation plantings or as groundcover. It can grow well in almost any garden – informal, cottage, woodland, urban, rock and gravel garden. Very good for growing in pots and containers.
