Pinus mugo 'Gnom' is a small, compact, dense, slow-growing, mound-forming, coniferous, evergreen shrub with neat and rounded habit, needle-like, jade-green leaves, and green to brown cones appearing in late summer. Pinus mugo 'Gnom' is not fussy about the soil type and can grow well in any type of soil, loamy, sandy, clay or chalky, as long as it is well-drained. It thrives in full sun. Once established, it is tolerant of drought and heat, very adaptable to coastal conditions. Extremely resistant to frost and can withstand wind, therefore, suitable for exposed positions. It can withstand urban pollution. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning. Dwarf mountain pine 'Gnom' is a lovely, neat, evergreen shrub, ideal for coastal and rock and gravel gardens, but also suitable for informal, cottage, and urban gardens. Excellent for cities and industrial areas. Great for growing in containers on patios and roof gardens. Nice when combined with taller shrubs and surrounded with white pebbles.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
