Phyllostachys aureosulcata 'Aureocaulis' is a vigorous and tall, very decorative, evergreen bamboo with narrow, upright golden-yellow canes, reddish when young, and long, lance-shaped, glossy green leaves, sometimes with creamy-yellow stripes. It is also known for zigzag pattern on the lower culms. Phyllostachys aureosulcata 'Aureocaulis' thrives in fertile, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soils, but can adapt to a wide range of soils. It grows well in full sun and partial shade. If grown in too much shade, it can become lax. Extremely resistant to cold and frost, suitable for exposed areas. Virtually pest-free and disease-free. It may become invasive in warm and moist conditions. Medium maintenance plant, needs annual pruning. Golden groove bamboo 'Aureocaulis' is a spectacular ornamental and architectural plant. Best to be planted in open position. Great as a specimen or accent plant. Perfect for informal hedges and screens. Excellent for growing in containers on patios and roof gardens.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
