Magnolia Goliath is an attractive, evergreen shrub or small tree of bushy, rounded habit with ovate, glossy, slightly curving, dark-green leaves, and beautiful, cup-shaped, creamy-white flowers. This variety has extremely fragrant, very large flowers that bloom from early summer to early autumn, and starts producing flowers when only 3 years old. Magnolia Goliath is easily grown in a wide range of soils, but prefers light, fertile, slightly acidic, consistently moist, and well-drained soils. Once established, it can withstand drought. It thrives in full sun, but tolerates partial shade. It is resistant to frost, but needs to be sheltered from harsh, dry winds. Because of its shallow roots, it doesn’t like to be transplanted. Doesn’t require much pruning. Magnolia Goliath is a fantastic, slow-growing, ornamental tree, perfect as a specimen plant or a small shade tree. Great for informal, cottage, woodland, and urban gardens. Excellent when trained as a large wall shrub, or in beds and borders.
