Magnolia Grandiflora ‘Francois Treyve’ is an upright, conical to oval, evergreen shrub or small tree with broadly ovate, glossy, dark green leaves with leathery cinnamon-brown undersides. Beautiful, large, bowl-like, sweetly scented, ivory-white flowers bloom in summer and early autumn. It flowers abundantly for about 2 months, but flowers last only 1 to 3 days. Magnolia Grandiflora ‘Francois Treyve’ needs a good location to be healthy and grow well. It likes a lot of sunlight in summer and some shade in winter. It prefers fertile, humus-rich, slightly-acidic, moist well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Tolerant of dry, alkaline soil. It is very resistant to frost, but needs to be sheltered from harsh, winter winds. Not very adaptable to urban pollution. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require much pruning. Bull Bay Magnolia ‘Francois Treyve’ is a magnificent, ornamental tree suitable for informal and cottage gardens. Perfect as a specimen or accent plant, best if grown against a sunny wall.
