Lonicera periclymenum 'Belgica', or Dutch Honeysuckle, is a vigorous, fast-growing, twining, deciduous climber with oval, dark green leaves, blue-green underneath, purpely-red buds, and masses of beautiful, fragrant, tubular, white to deep yellow flowers, red outside, blooming from late spring to mid-summer, followed by bright red berries. The fragrance is strongest at night. Another flush of flowers may appear later in summer. Lonicera periclymenum 'Belgica' can adapt to a wide range of soils, except very wet or very dry, but prefers average, loamy, moist, well-drained soils. It thrives in partial shade but tolerates full sun. It can withstand very low temperatures, but may need to be sheltered from harsh winds. Generally, pest-free and disease-free. Low maintenance plant, requires minimal pruning. Dutch Honeysuckle ‘Belgica’ is perfect for cottage, wildlife, or coastal gardens. Its thin, flexible stems twine around the support and are great for covering walls, fences, trellises, and arbours. Suitable for shrub and wall-side borders.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
