Juniperus squamata 'Blue Star' is a dwarf, low-growing, coniferous, evergreen shrub with compact, dense, globose mound, scaly brown bark, and needle-like, silver-blue leaves, purplish-blue in winter. It is often called single-seed juniper because it bears elliptic, blackish, berry-like seed cones that contain only one seed. Juniperus squamata 'Blue Star' can grow in a wide range of soils, even poor and dry, except waterlogged. It prefers average, medium moisture, well-drained soils, and thrives in full sun and partial shade. Once established, resistant to drought. Relatively tolerant of hot and humid conditions. Very resistant to frost and exposed positions. No serious pest and disease problems. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning. Flaky Juniper 'Blue Star' is an elegant, slow-growing and compact shrub, perfect as a ground cover when planted in masses. Excellent as a specimen or foundation plant. Great for beds and borders and for growing in containers. Suitable for cottage, urban, coastal, and rock and gravel gardens.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
