Juniperus horizontalis 'Blue Chip', a cultivar of Creeping Juniper, is a low-growing, mat-forming, prostrate, spreading evergreen shrub with long trailing branches, masses of short branchlets, and needle-like, silvery-green to steel-blue foliage, purplish-green in winter. 'Blue Chip' Creeping Juniper is a tough and resilient plant. It can grow in a wide range of soils, including poor, dry, and shallow rocky soils, but prefers average, sandy, medium moisture, and well-drained soils, in full sun. Once established, it can withstand drought. It is tolerant of urban pollution and coastal conditions. Adaptable to cold and frost. Doesn’t have any major insect or disease problems. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning. Juniperus horizontalis 'Blue Chip' Chip’ is a terrific groundcover, looking really nice when cascading over walls. It is great as a foundation plant, perfect on banks and slopes or along retaining walls for erosion control, and in rock and gravel gardens. Suitable for urban and coastal areas.
