Jasmine officinalis is a large, vigorous, fast-growing, deciduous or semi-evergreen climbing shrub with rich-green, pinnate leaves with 7-9 ovate leaflets. It is well-known for its beautiful, very fragrant, white to pale pink flowers that bloom all summer and autumn. Attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. Common White Jasmine grows very well in regular, moderately fertile garden soil, medium moist and well-drained. It likes warm and sheltered locations, in full sun to partial shade. It is tolerant of drought and air pollution. Since it’s not resistant to frost, in colder areas it must be grown in containers and brought inside in winter. Generally, disease-free and pest-free. It requires hard pruning and support. Jasmine officinalis is a wonderful climber that can fill the whole garden with its sweet fragrance. It is great as a groundcover, for covering walls, fences, arbours, and trellises. Perfect for coastal areas and excellent for growing in containers.
