Hibiscus syriacus 'Totus Albus' is a vigorous, medium-sized, dense, upright, deciduous shrub with broad, lobed, glossy green leaves, yellow in autumn, and large, trumpet-shaped, pure white flowers, with lacy petals in the centre, attractive to bees and butterflies, blooming in summer and autumn. Hibiscus syriacus 'Totus Albus' prefers fertile, organically rich, neutral to alkaline, moist, well-drained soils. It thrives in warm, sunny locations and needs long, hot summers to flower well. Once established, resistant to drought. Very resilient plant, easy to maintain. Tolerant of heat, humidity, coastal conditions and urban pollution. Resistant to frost, but needs to be sheltered from harsh winds. It has no serious pest or disease problems. Low maintenance plant, requires minimal or no pruning. Hibiscus syriacus 'Totus Albus' is a very elegant, long-blooming variety, suitable for cottage, urban, coastal, and rock gardens. It looks great in shrub, mixed, and wall-side boarders. Excellent for foundation plantings and informal hedges and screens. Suitable for growing in containers.
