Erica x darleyensis 'J.W. Porter' is a vigorous, bushy, mat-forming, low-growing, evergreen shrub of neat, rounded habit, with stiff, glossy, green, needle-like leaves, tipped creamy-pink in summer. A profusion of urn-shaped, fluffy, mauve-pink flowers bloom from January to April. Very attractive to bees. Erica x darleyensis 'J.W. Porter' is adaptable to a wide range of soils, except too wet, but prefers medium fertile, slightly acidic, sandy, moist, and well-drained soils, in full sun. In hot climates, it appreciates some shade. Once established, it is tolerant of drought. Very resistant to heat and frost, adaptable to coastal and exposed conditions. Generally, pest-free and disease-free. Rarely requires fertilizing. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning. Heather 'J.W. Porter' is a beautiful, resilient, long-flowering shrub, perfect as a ground cover in informal, cottage, coastal, and rock and gravel gardens. Great for beds and borders, banks and slopes, and garden edging. Attractive when planted in masses. Suitable for growing in containers.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
