Cupressus macrocarpa 'Goldcrest' is a narrowly columnar, coniferous, evergreen tree with conical form and ascending sprays of bright golden-yellow foliage, yellow-green when young. It retains its colour throughout the winter. When crushed, the leaves have strong lemon fragrance. Monterey cypress 'Goldcrest' is easily grown in any type of soil, as long as it is well-drained. Once established it is tolerant of drought. It thrives in sandy soils and full sun, but can withstand light shade. It is resistant to frost, but has to be sheltered from harsh winter winds. It is also resistant to heat and sea salt, therefore suitable for coastal conditions. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning, but can be pruned to maintain its high and spread. Monterey cypress 'Goldcrest' is perfect as a specimen or accent plant in coastal and Mediterranean-style gardens. Excellent for hedges and screens and beds and borders. Suitable for growing in containers.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
