Chamaecyparis pisifera aurea is a large, slow-growing, broadly conical, coniferous, evergreen shrub with dropping golden-yellow foliage, greener on older growth, tending to fade in autumn. It has reddish-brown, peeling bark and small, green cones in summer, dark chocolate-brown when ripe. Chamaecyparis pisifera aurea grows best in average, fertile, slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soils. It doesn’t like wet and poorly-drained soils because it can lead to root rot. It thrives in full sun and best leaf colour is achieved in full sun, but too much exposure can cause sunburn. Once established, it is resistant to drought. Tolerant of frost, but needs to be sheltered from harsh, winter winds. No serious insect or disease problems. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning. Sawara cypress 'Filifera Aurea' is an attractive, resilient shrub, great for informal, cottage, urban, and gravel and rock gardens. Excellent as a specimen or accent plant, excellent for hedges and screens and foundation plantings.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
