Callicarpa bodinieri var. giraldii 'Profusion' is a highly ornamental, medium-sized, deciduous shrub with bronze-purple leaves when young, dark green in summer, and pink and golden-purple in autumn. The clusters of small, lilac flowers appear in summer and are followed by very attractive, eye-catching, glossy, violet-purple berries that resemble beads on strings. They remain on elegant arching branches long after the leaves have fallen. Callicarpa bodinieri var. giraldii 'Profusion' prefers full sun to part shade, and an average, well-drained soil. It is adaptable to different types of soil as long as the drainage is good. Easy to grow, low maintenance, generally pest free and disease-free. Callicarpa bodinieri 'Profusion' is a Dutch selection from seedlings of C. bodinieri var. giraldii and was introduced in 1887. It’s a great-looking shrub for informal, woodland and cottage gardens. It can brighten up garden borders and its branches with purple berries are great for flower arrangements.
