Acer palmatum 'Crimson Queen' is a deciduous shrub or a small tree with a bushy cascading habit and a weeping form. Its lacy foliage, delicately dissected into 7 or 9 lobed leaves, is known for holding its beautiful deep red colour the entire growing season. In late autumn, just before the leaves fall off, it becomes bright scarlet. It is easily grown in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil, in partial shade, but it tolerates full sun very well. Easy to care for, it requires very little pruning. Lack of soil moisture or excessive exposure can cause leaf scorch. This attractive dwarf weeping tree looks beautiful when planted beside a steam or a pond. Its elegant foliage and dramatic colour makes it a stunning specimen plant. Great addition to small yards, urban gardens, and rock gardens. It is also suitable for growing in containers.
