The narrow-lobed, deeply dissected, strap-like or bamboo-like leaves are deep red in spring and well into summer, then they bronze and turn green, only to become scarlet in autumn. Acer palmatum 'Beni-otake' likes moist, but well-drained soil. It tolerates full sun, but leaves are the most beautiful when it is in partial shade. It’s hardy but has to be protected from hardh winds and frost. Lack of moisture and excessive exposure can cause leaf scorch. Easy to maintain. No need for regular pruning. This beautiful vivid decorative tree is perfect for small yards, urban gardens, or as a front yard accent. It is also suitable for growing in pots and containers.
