Vaccinium corymbosum 'Bluegold' is an upright, blueberry shrub with ovate, glossy, dark green leaves, turning attractive yellow, red, and purple in autumn. Bell-shaped, white flowers bloom in May and are followed by firm, delicious, light blue berries, ready for harvesting in late June or July. Vaccinium corymbosum 'Bluegold' grows best in organically rich, slightly acidic, loamy and sandy, medium to wet, well-drained soils in full sun or partial shade. Because of its shallow roots, it needs constant moisture and good drainage. It is self-fertile, but for the best crop, three different cultivars should be planted together. It can withstand coastal conditions and urban pollution. Mature plants may require regular pruning. Blueberry 'Bluegold' is grown for its fruit production, but also for ornamental purposes. It is excellent for shrub borders, especially for woodland gardens, as well as hedges and screens. Suitable for cottage, urban and coastal gardens. Good for growing in containers.
