Phyllostachys bissetii is a vigorous, fast-growing, clump-forming, evergreen bamboo with tall, upright, dark green canes, lighter green to golden yellow in full sun, and narrow, lance-shaped, glossy, dark green leaves. It can form extremely dense and completely windproof canopy. Phyllostachys bissetii can adapt to a wide range of soils, except waterlogged and too dry, but grows best in fertile, moist, well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun and partial shade. Resistant to frost and cold and suitable for exposed areas. Tolerant of wind. Virtually pest-free and disease-free. It may become invasive in warm and moist conditions. Medium maintenance plant, needs annual pruning. Bisset's Bamboo is a tall, stunning, ornamental and architectural bamboo. Great for informal hedges and screens, especially since its dense foliage, that reaches the ground, is almost completely windproof. Excellent for growing in containers on patios and roof gardens.
