Unit price perPrunus laurocerasus ‘Novita’ is a vigorous, fast-growing, tree-like, evergreen shrub with a dense crown, large, obovate, very glossy leaves, soft green when young and dark green when mature. It rarely flowers when young, but once established, it flowers abundantly unless pruned. Flowers are small and white and followed by large, black berries. Prunus laurocerasus ‘Novita’ grows best in slightly deep, fertile, acidic, moist, well-drained soil. It prefers full sun to partial shade, but is tolerant of full shade as well. It is resistant of frost and can withstand very low temperatures. Once established, it is tolerant of drought, salt and air pollution. May suffer from chlorosis when planted in poor, shallow, chalky soil. Low maintenance plant, tolerant of hard pruning. Generally, pest-free. Cherry Laurel ‘Novita’ is an extremely resilient variety of laurel, perfect for hedges and screens, especially in shady areas, in informal, cottage, coastal, and woodland gardens. Great for banks and slopes or as a ground cover.

Unit price perPrunus ‘Marie Mallet’ is an ornamental, upright, deciduous tree with elegant weeping branches, and toothed, dark green leaves which turn red and orange in autumn. Beautiful, pink-flushed, white flowers bloom in early spring on bare branches, before the leaves emerge. Prunus ‘Marie Mallet’ thrives in moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soil, in full sun, but is adaptable to a wide range of soils, except very wet or chalky. Once established, it is resistant to heat, drought, and humidity. It needs to be sheltered from harsh winds. Since it is an early bloomer, late frosts may damage the flower buds. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t need much pruning. Easy to grow. As an exceptionally lovely, small, flowering cherry tree of weeping habit, with beautiful flowers and great autumn colours, Prunus ‘Marie Mallet’ is perfect for small informal, cottage, and urban gardens. Great for beds and borders. Suitable for growing in containers.

Unit price perPrunus Padus, commonly known as European Bird Cherry, is a deciduous tree species native to Europe and western Asia. It belongs to the Rosaceae family and is closely related to other members of the Prunus genus such as cherries, plums, and peaches. The tree can grow up to a height of 10-15 meters and has a broad, spreading canopy. The leaves are oval-shaped, toothed, and have a dark green color with a glossy finish. The tree blooms in late spring with clusters of small, white flowers that give way to dark, red to black, pea-sized fruits in late summer.
The European Bird Cherry is a hardy and adaptable species, tolerant of a wide range of soil types, and can grow in both full sun and partial shade. It is commonly found in woodland areas, forest edges, and hedgerows. The tree is also known for its ability to attract a wide variety of wildlife, including birds, bees, and butterflies, which feed on its nectar and fruits.
In traditional medicine, various parts of the European Bird Cherry have been used to treat a range of ailments, including coughs, colds, and digestive disorders. The bark and leaves contain compounds that have been shown to possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which may explain their medicinal effects.
However, it is worth noting that the fruit of the European Bird Cherry contains cyanogenic glycosides, which can release hydrogen cyanide when ingested in large quantities. As a result, the fruit should be consumed in moderation, and caution should be taken when handling or processing the fruits.
Overall, Prunus Padus is a versatile and valuable species that provides numerous ecological, aesthetic, and medicinal benefits. Its beautiful flowers, attractive fruits, and wildlife-attracting qualities make it a popular ornamental tree in gardens and public spaces, while its hardiness and adaptability make it an important species for reforestation and habitat restoration projects.
