Hibiscus syriacus 'Leopoldii' is a compact, bushy, dense, upright, deciduous shrub, with unique, ovate, narrow, three-lobed leaves. Large, funnel-shaped, pale pink, double flowers with dark red centres bloom from July to October. It flowers abundantly but each flower lasts only for one day. Hibiscus syriacus 'Leopoldii' grows best in fertile, organically rich, neutral, moist, well-drained soils in warm, sunny locations. It needs long, hot summers to flower well. Once established, resistant to drought. Very resilient plant, tolerant of heat, humidity, coastal conditions and urban pollution. Resistant to frost, but needs to be sheltered from harsh winds. It has no serious pest or disease problems. Low maintenance plant, requires minimal or no pruning. Rose of Sharon 'Leopoldii' is a stunning, abundantly flowering, exotic-looking shrub, very easy to grow and maintain. It is suitable for cottage, urban, and coastal gardens. Perfect for mixed and shrub borders, trellises and wall-side borders, as well as foundation plantings. Great for informal hedges and screens and for growing in containers.
