Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Boulevard' is a compact, slow-growing, densely pyramidal, coniferous, evergreen shrub with reddish, peeling bark, soft, silvery, needle-like, blue-grey foliage, tinged purple in winter and small, rounded cones. Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Boulevard' thrives in average, loamy, slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soils, but can adapt to a wide range of soils. It can grow in full sun to partial shade, but prefers partial shade. It hates waterlogged soils. Resistant to heat and frost, and tolerant of exposed conditions. If exposed to the winter winds, its foliage may turn bronze. It has no serious disease or pest problems. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning, but it looks better if regularly sheared. Boulevard False Cypress is a popular and very good looking, slow-growing, architectural plant, perfect as a specimen or accent plant. Excellent for hedges and screens, mixed and shrub borders, foundation plantings, and rock and gravel gardens. Suitable for growing in containers.
