Erica x darleyensis ‘Kramer's Red’ is a compact, vigorous, mat-forming, dwarf evergreen shrub of upright, bushy habit with short, narrowly lance-shaped, leaves, rich green in summer and deep purple in winter and spring. A profusion of urn-shaped, rich magenta flowers bloom from November to April. Erica x darleyensis ‘Kramer's Red’ is very easy to grow. It can adapt to a wide range of soils, except too wet, but prefers medium fertile, sandy, moist, and well-drained soils, in full sun. In hot climates, it appreciates some shade. Once established, it is tolerant of drought. Very resistant to heat and frost, adaptable to coastal conditions. Generally, pest-free and disease-free. Rarely requires fertilizing. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning. Heather 'Kramer's Rote' is a lovely, resilient, long-flowering shrub perfect for a ground cover in informal, cottage, coastal, and rock and gravel gardens. Great for beds and borders, banks and slopes, and garden edging. Suitable for growing in containers.
