Ceanothus 'Italian Skies' is a compact, fast-growing, mounding, medium-sized evergreen shrub with glossy, dark green leaves. It’s a UK selection of the west coast native wild lilac and is famous for its attractive, dense clusters of sweetly fragrant, light blue flowers. This California Lilac likes sunny, warm areas, sheltered from hard, cold winds. It can grow almost anywhere, but prefers well-drained soils. Except for well-drained soil, it doesn’t have any special requirements. It needs little to no fertilization and is very resistant to drought. It is somewhat resistant to frost. Easy to grow and low maintenance. Attractive to bees, butterflies and birds. Ceanothus 'Italian Skies' is a very decorative plant, perfect for sunny beds and borders, wall-side borders, hedges and screens, mixed borders with grasses and perennials, and as a groundcover on dry banks and slopes. Great for informal, cottage, and coastal gardens. Suitable for growing in containers.
