Buxus sempervirens 'Aurea Marginata' is a compact, rounded, slow-growing, evergreen shrub with very attractive foliage. Glossy, dark green leaves have white margins that turn cream and yellow. Inconspicuous, pale green to yellow flowers emerge in spring. Buxus 'Aurea Marginata' grows well in a variety of conditions. It prefers partial shade in almost any kind of moist, well-drained, soil as long as there is not too much sand or clay. In full shade, it will not grow as vigorously, and in full sun the foliage may scorch. It must be sheltered from hard winds. Tolerant of pruning and shearing. Tough, hardy and easy to grow. Cultivating around the plant should be avoided because it has shallow roots. Toxic to animals. Buxus sempervirens 'Aurea Marginata' stands out in the landscape, especially in shadier parts of the garden. It is great for beds and borders and for growing in containers. Ideal for topiary clipping, hedging, and screens.
