Azalea (Rhododendron) Millennium is a medium-sized, upright, late-flowering deciduous shrub. It is popular for its extremely fragrant, funnel-shaped, deep pink to dusty red flowers that bloom in late May or June. Blooming lasts for 3-4 weeks which is long for azalea. Its leaves are small, oval, semi-glossy, blue-green with silvery undersides. Millennium Azalea thrives in damp soil and plenty of sun. It prefers moist, acidic, well-drained soils, but it is tolerant to wet soils, even those with poor drainage. It can even withstand periodic flooding. It likes full sun or dappled shade. It needs protection from strong winter winds. Azalea (Rhododendron) Millennium is a beautiful, fragrant landscape plant. Perfect for mixed borders, shrub borders, hedges, and for growing in containers. It’s important to know that all types and all parts of azalea bushes are considered poisonous. Azalea (Rhododendron) Millennium is a hybrid bred by E.V.Mezitt in Massachusetts, USA, in 1973.
