Syringa vulgaris ‘Beauty of Moscow’ is a large, deciduous shrub with heart-shaped, light green leaves and highly fragrant, double, two-tone, pink and white flowers growing in upright panicles and opening from soft pink-lilac buds in late spring. Flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies and followed by seed capsules in autumn. Lilac ‘Beauty of Moscow’ grows well in most soil types as long as they are well-drained, but prefers fertile, humus-rich, slightly alkaline, moist, well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun and best flowering occurs in full sun, but is tolerant of partial shade. It is resistant to frost and can withstand some wind. Surprisingly low maintenance, doesn’t require regular pruning. Syringa vulgaris ‘Beauty of Moscow’ is an exquisite flowering shrub with stunning pink-white flowers of beautiful fragrance. It is prefect as a specimen or accent plant in informal, cottage, and woodland gardens. Great for shrub borders, informal hedges and screens, or foundation plantings.
