Cupressus sempervirens is an architectural, long-lived, coniferous, evergreen tree with narrowly columnar habit, grey, slightly grooved bark, branches covered with dark green, scale-like leaves held in flat sprays, and round to oblong cones that persist on tree for several years. Cupressus sempervirens can grow on any type of soil, as long as it is well-drained, in full sun. It can withstand winds, including sea wind, but doesn’t tolerate cold, drying winds, therefore, it is suitable only for mild climates. Once established, it is drought tolerant. Low maintenance, doesn’t require pruning. Extremely long-lived, it can live up to 1000 years. Cupressus sempervirens is an impressive, elegant tree, a magnificent specimen plant, perfect as an accent plant, great for patios, atriums, and courtyards. It brings strong vertical lines to the landscape. Most suitable for Mediterranean and coastal gardens. It can be grown in containers.
