Ilex x altaclerensis 'Golden King' is a lovely, bushy, evergreen shrub or small tree with rounded, glossy, deep green leaves with irregular, golden yellow margins. It’s a female plant with small, dull, white flowers, followed by brownish-red berries in autumn and winter, if male pollinating plant is nearby. 'Golden King' Holly is a tough plant that grows well in most soil types, but prefers fertile, moist, well-drained soils, in full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of frost, wind, urban pollution and maritime exposure. It needs to be sheltered from drying winter winds. Easy to grow and maintain, doesn’t require regular pruning. Ilex x altaclerensis 'Golden King' is a variety of a garden hybrid Ilex x altaclerensis. It’s a resilient, good-looking plant, great for any small garden - informal, cottage, coastal or urban. Perfect as a specimen plant or for hedges and screens. Suitable for growing in containers.
