Hydrangea Silver Lining is a vigorous, self-clinging, deciduous climber with massive skeleton of thick branches, areal roots along the stems, and very decorative, medium-sized, variegated, ovate to heart-shaped, silvery-green leaves with irregular creamy-white margins. Clusters of white flowers bloom in June and July. Not a prolific bloomer and valued mostly for its variegated, silvery foliage. Hydrangea Silver Lining prefers fertile, cool, slightly acidic, moist, but well-drained soils. It thrives in partial shade, and full shade, but tolerates full sun if the soil is consistently moist. Because of its thick branches, it may require some support. Very hardy, resistant to cold, and generally, disease-free. It may require very little pruning in spring. Toxic to dogs, cats, horses. Hydrangea Silver Lining is a lovely, tough climber perfect for covering walls, fences, trellises, and arbours. Great for informal hedges and screens, and brightening shady corners of the garden.
