Juniperus communis 'Goldschatz' is a prostrate, spreading, slow-growing, dense, coniferous, evergreen shrub with orange-brown young stems, and aromatic, needle-like, golden-yellow to yellow-green leaves, flushed bronze in winter. Female plants bear small, globose, fleshy, fruit-like cones. Juniperus communis 'Goldschatz' is adaptable to a wide range of soils, even very poor and rocky ones, but grows best in moist, well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun or partial shade. Once established, resistant to drought. Really dislikes hot and humid conditions. It is extremely tolerant of low temperatures, frost, and exposed positions. Adaptable to air pollution and urban conditions. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning. Juniper 'Goldschatz' is a wonderful, ornamental, evergreen shrub, ideal for poor and dry soils. Perfect as a ground cover, especially for banks and slopes for erosion control. Great looking in rock and gravel gardens, but also suitable for cottage, coastal, and urban gardens. Good for growing in containers.
