Malus ‘Royal Beauty’ is a small, weeping, deciduous tree with a cascading, dark green leaves, deep-purple underneath, yellow and bronze in autumn, and clusters of fragrant, deep-pink to light-purple flowers along the branches, blooming in spring. Small, dark-purple, cherry-like, non-edible fruits ripen in autumn and persist on bare branches in winter. Malus ‘Royal Beauty’ can grow well in a wide range of soils, but prefers moderately fertile, deep, loamy, medium moisture, well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun, but tolerates partial shade. Once established, it is resistant to drought. It can withstand frost, wind, coastal conditions, and urban pollution. Low maintenance plant, requires minimal pruning. It’s a self-fertile plant, useful as a pollinator for other plants. Crab Apple 'Royal Beauty' is a highly ornamental tree with elegant weeping branches, perfect for small informal, cottage, coastal and urban gardens. Great as a specimen or accent plant, excellent for beds and borders.
