Betula utilis Grayswood Ghost is a beautiful vigorous, medium-sized tree with oval, conical crown and large, glossy, rich green leaves that turn bright yellow in autumn. It is well-known for its luminescent, silvery, ghostly-white, smooth bark and considered to be one of the whitest of all birches. The white bark fully develops after 8 years. Small, yellowish-brown male flowers in catkins emerge in early spring. Betula utilis Grayswood Ghost is easily grown in any type of soil, but prefers medium to wet, well-drained soils, in full sun or partial shade. It is resilient to a wide range of conditions. Great choice for cities and urban gardens since it can withstand air pollution. It is very hardy, suitable even for cold climates. Betula utilis Grayswood Ghost is a lovely, elegant birch tree with stunning white bark. It is perfect as a specimen plant or in beds and borders. Great for cottage, urban and informal gardens.
