Pinus mugo 'Klostergrun', commonly known as Dwarf Mountain Pine, is a slow-growing evergreen shrub with a compact and rounded form. It is a cultivar of the species Pinus mugo, which is native to the mountainous regions of central and southern Europe. 'Klostergrun' is a popular cultivar due to its attractive bluish-green needles and low-maintenance requirements. The needles are short, stiff, and grow in pairs, giving the plant a dense and bushy appearance. The plant typically reaches a height and width of 2-3 feet, making it an excellent choice for rock gardens, slopes, and small landscapes. In the spring, Dwarf Mountain Pine produces small, cylindrical cones that mature to a dark brown color by autumn. The cones persist on the plant for several years, adding an interesting textural element to the plant's appearance.
