Cistus × pulverulentus 'Alan Fradd' is a small, dense, rounded, evergreen shrub with dark green, lance-shaped leaves and masses of large, papery white flowers with purple spots at the base of each petal and golden-yellow antlers, blooming in June and July. Each flower lasts only for one day. Cistus × pulverulentus 'Alan Fradd' can grow well in almost any type of soil, even poor, dry, and chalky, as long as it is well-drained and in sunny, sheltered positions. It is resistant to frost, but needs to be sheltered from harsh, winter winds. In very cold areas it may die and late frosts may damage the flowers buds, Very resistant to drought and sea salt, suitable for coastal conditions. Generally, pest-free and disease-free. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning. This Purple-flowered Rock Rose 'Alan Fradd' is a very attractive and resilient shrub perfect for dry banks and slopes, coastal, and rock gardens. Excellent as a groundcover. Great for cottage, urban, and wildlife gardens.
