Prunus ‘Royal Flame’ is a medium-sized, ornamental, deciduous, flowering cherry tree of upright habit and pyramidal crown, with bright green leaves, bronze when young, yellow and fiery orange in autumn. The abundance of fragrant, white flowers bloom in spring on bare branches before the leaves emerge creating a beautiful display. Prunus ‘Royal Flame’ thrives in fertile, moist, well-drained soils, but will also tolerate other types of soil, even calk and clay. It grows best in full sun. It is resistant to cold, but should be protected from strong winds. Late frost may damage the flower buds. Tolerant of urban pollution. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require much pruning. ‘Royal Flame’ Cherry is an exceptionally beautiful tree with its intense foliage colours and masses of fragrant flowers. It is perfect as a specimen plant or planted in small groups in informal, cottage and urban gardens. Great for public urban areas - small lanes, street and parks.
