Prunus ‘Fragrant Cloud’ is a medium-sized, vase-shaped, deciduous flowering cherry tree of spreading habit with dark green leaves, emerging bronze, and turning vivid orange and red in autumn. Large, extremely fragrant, semi-double, white to pale pink flowers bloom in spring. Prunus ‘Fragrant Cloud’ prefers moderately fertile, moist, and well-drained soils, but is adaptable to a wide range of soils, as long as they are well-drained. It doesn’t like too wet, shallow, and chalky soils. It thrives in full sun, but needs to be sheltered. Late frosts may damage the flower buds. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require much pruning. Cherry 'Shizuka' is a lovely decorative cherry tree, grown for its fragrant, pink flowers and beautiful autumn foliage. It’s a tough tree, tolerant of air pollution, therefore, excellent for urban conditions. Great as a specimen tree in cottage and informal gardens. Lovely when planted in groups and suitable for growing in containers.
