Lavatera 'Burgundy Wine' is a vigorous, deciduous to semi-evergreen shrub with palmately lobed, felted, greyish-green leaves and upright spikes of lovely, large, single, funnel-shaped, dark pink flowers. It’s the darkest of all the Lavateras. It blooms abundantly from June to September and attracts bees and butterflies. Tree Mallow 'Burgundy Wine' is undemanding and easy to maintain. It can grow in wide range of soils, but prefers average, light, dry to medium moist, well-drained soils. Once established, it is tolerant of drought. It thrives in full sun and any location except North-facing. It is resistant to cold, but needs to be sheltered from harsh winds. Generally, pest-free. Low maintenance plant. Lavatera 'Burgundy Wine' is a beautiful, bushy, flowering shrub and a great addition to any cottage, urban, coastal, or rock garden. Great for the back of sunny borders, perfect for flower beds and wall-borders, and suitable for growing in pots and containers.
