Weigelia ‘Red Prince’ is a compact, bushy, deciduous shrub of rounded habit, with elliptic to oblong, medium-green leaves, and funnel-shaped, bright red flowers blooming in spring, sometimes again in summer and autumn. Attractive to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Weigelia ‘Red Prince’ is a fast-growing and resilient plant that requires very little care. It can adapt to a wide range of soil conditions, even clay and tough urban grounds, but prefers fertile, moist, well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun, but can grow well and bloom in partial shade and full shade. It is tolerant of frost, wind, exposure and mild drought. Doesn’t have any serious pest or disease problems. Low maintenance, doesn’t require regular pruning, but can withstand hard pruning.
