Weigela florida 'Foliis Purpureis' is a small, compact, spreading, deciduous shrub with narrowly ovate to broadly elliptic, serrated, dark olive green leaves with shades of purple and chocolate brown. A profusion of funnel-shaped, rosy-pink flowers, bloom in spring and summer. Attractive to bees and butterflies. Weigela florida 'Foliis Purpureis' can adapt to a wide range of soils, even heavy and compacted, but thrives in semi-fertile, slightly moist, well-drained soils. It prefers full sun, but can easily grow in partial shade, even full shade, and still bloom. It can withstand frost and occasional flooding. Doesn’t like the soil to completely dry out. It requires some pruning to maintain it dense and healthy shape. Tolerant of hard pruning. Weigela florida 'Foliis Purpureis' is an attractive, abundantly flowering shrub with very interesting foliage. Perfect for beds and borders, shrub borders, banks and slopes, and informal, low hedges. Great for small cottage gardens.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
