Syringa vulgaris 'Amethyst' is a slow-growing, vigorous, deciduous flowering shrub of upright, spreading and suckering habit, with large, heart-shaped, glossy green leaves. Conical clusters of beautiful, very fragrant, trumpet-shaped, light purple-blue, single flowers bloom in late spring and early summer. Attractive to pollinators. Lilac 'Amethyst' can grow in any non-acidic soil, as long as it is well-drained, but prefers moderately fertile, humus-rich, slightly alkaline, moist, well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun and best flowering is achieved in full sun. It is very resistant to frost. It likes cold winter climates because it needs winter chill for the buds to mature. Tolerant of urban pollution and exposed conditions. Generally, pest-free and disease-free. Low maintenance plant but can tolerate hard pruning if needed. Syringa vulgaris 'Amethyst' is a lovely, fragrant shrub perfect for informal, cottage, woodland, or urban gardens. Great as a specimen or accent plant. Excellent for beds and borders, banks and slopes, and informal hedges and screens.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
