Sorbus aucuparia ‘Autumn Spire’ is a small, vigorous, deciduous tree of columnar habit with pinnate, bright green leaves, yellow, red, and purple in autumn. Small, creamy-white flowers bloom in spring and are followed by masses of yellow berries with reddish centres in summer and autumn. Attractive to birds and bees. Mountain Ash ‘Autumn Spire’ grows best in moderately fertile, humus-rich, slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soils, but is adaptable to various soil conditions, except too wet and waterlogged. It thrives in full sun to partial shade. It is resistant to frost and wind. Very easy to grow, tolerant of urban pollution, coastal conditions, and exposed areas. Sorbus aucuparia ‘Autumn Spire’ is a wonderful and tough ornamental tree with stunning autumn foliage and profuse flowering. Perfect as a specimen or accent plant in cottage, urban, wildlife, and coastal gardens. Great for informal hedges and screens. Excellent for streets and avenues. Suitable for growing in containers on patios and roof gardens.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
