Quercus suber is a slow-growing, evergreen tree with capriciously growing, half-open crown, leathery, oval, toothed, glossy, dark green leaves, felt-like, silvery-grey underneath, and attractive, thick, rough, deeply fissured, corky bark. The bark is commercially harvested and used for the production of bottle corks. Cork Oak is able to regenerate its bark and, during the harvest, a large section of its outer bark is cut and peeled. Inconspicuous flowers are yellow-green and grow in catkins if male and clusters if female. The fruit is small, egg-shaped acorn. Quercus suber grows best in loamy, slightly acidic, dry to medium, well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun, but tolerates some shade. Once established, resistant to drought and fairly resistant to wind. Tolerant of urban conditions. Low maintenance plant. Cork Oak is an impressive, large, architectural tree, perfect for large gardens, streets and avenues, residential areas, and parks. It is suitable for industrial areas and growing in containers.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
