Prunus domestica ‘Old Green Gage’ is a small European plum tree with elliptic, serrated, bright green leaves, masses of white, 5-petal, flowers in mid-spring, and heavy crops of delicious, small, oval, yellow-green plums, exceptional for culinary purposes - canning, making jellies, or eating fresh. European Plum ‘Green Gage’ is an old variety and regarded as the one of the best flavoured plums. It is adaptable to different types of soils, but prefers fertile, loamy, slightly acidic, moist and well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun. It is resistant to frost, but needs to be sheltered from harsh winds. Flower buds may be damaged by early frosts. Low maintenance plant. Prunus domestica ‘Old Green Gage’ is a lovely fruiting tree with extremely tasty and juicy fruits. A great addition to any informal and cottage garden. Excellent for wall-side borders and informal hedges and screens. Primarily grown for its fruit. Great for culinary purposes, canning, making jellies, or eating fresh.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
