Phormium Jester, a New Zealand Flax cultivar, is a clump-forming, herbaceous, evergreen perennial with slender, gently arching, sword-like, variegated, coral-pink leaves with green stripes, and inconspicuous, red, tubular, flowers on leafless, upright stems in summer. New Zealand Flax ‘Jester’ thrives in average to rich, consistently moist, well-drained soils, in full sun to partial shade. It doesn’t tolerate poor, heavy and waterlogged soils. It can withstand some winter cold, but frost can damage the foliage. It is tolerant of sea spray and wind, but needs to be sheltered from harsh, drying winter winds. Too much heat can cause leaf scorch or bleaching. Generally, disease-free. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require much pruning. Phormium Jester is an impressive, exotic-looking, colourful perennial, perfect for coastal, tropical, rock and gravel, and urban gardens. Great as a specimen plant or planted in masses in shrub borders or as a contrasting plant. Suitable for growing in containers.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
