Fagus sylvatica 'Purpurea'

Fagus sylvatica ‘Purpurea’ is a noble majestic tree which stands out in a woodland planting and as a specimen tree. This large deciduous tree can grow up to 30m tall, with a spread of 15-20m. The dark red-purple foliage appears in spring, which then turns a darker bronze-green during the summer, before finally turning golden brown in autumn. Fagus sylvatica ‘Purpurea’ can be planted in full sun or partial shade. This tree can dominate the landscape and is therefore ideal for a parkland setting.
