Here at Arundel Arboretum, we are wishing all of our customers – old and new – a very happy 2021. We hope that this year will be a safe and peaceful one for you all.
Arundel Arboretum has now reopened after the Christmas and New Year break. We have strict Covid-19 regulations in place to keep our staff and customers safe.
For those of you that have not visited us before, we have a very large, open site and it is therefore very easy to keep to the social distancing rules. We are only allowing one customer and one member of staff into our office at any one time. We hope that this will put you at ease if you are considering a visit to us. Face coverings must also be worn.
Despite the very cold weather we are currently experiencing, it can be so good to get out into the garden, especially on the sunny, crisp days. There is always a job to do!
The days are starting to slightly lengthen too – which is always a joy to witness. If you are planning a project for your garden for the spring, now is a good time to start to consider what you would like to achieve. A visit to Arundel Arboretum will not disappoint.
We have an excellent selection of trees and shrubs in stock – both evergreen and deciduous. Our knowledgeable staff are always on hand to assist you with advice on the right plants for you, your garden and your weather conditions.
If you are planning a major project, we also undertake site visits so that we can see your garden and work with you with ideas and suggestions for suitable plants. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like further information about this service.
If you are planning to get out into the fresh air soon, there are plenty of January jobs to be getting on with, including: –
- Giving your greenhouse, pots and trays a good clean so that they are ready for the spring
- Apple and pear trees can be pruned now
- Continue to put out food and fresh water for the birds and other wildlife. Water is particularly important – make sure any ice is broken
- Visit a garden centre such as Arundel Arboretum to discuss your planting requirements for the ensuing season
- Continue to clear any leaves
- Start weeding! We are seeing an explosion of weeds already!
- Rootball and bare root trees and shrubs can still be planted
During this third national lockdown, garden centres remain open. So, if you are looking for some inspiration, help and ideas for what to plant in your garden, then why not pop in? We will be delighted to see you and help you along with your planting requirements.
Our winter opening hours are:
Monday – Friday 9.00 a.m. – 4.30 p.m.
Saturday – Sunday 10.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m.
We shall look forward to welcoming you to Arundel Arboretum.
12th January 2021.
