Arundel Arboretum, one of the leading garden centres in West Sussex is an ideal place to visit if you are considering planting a tree to coincide with National Tree Week, which this year runs from 28th November – 6th December.
As we move further into the autumn and winter, this is an ideal time to consider planting a tree, as traditionally this is the start of the winter planting season. As well as trees in containers, you have the choice of bare root and rootballed trees too. Planting trees and shrubs during the winter months helps them to establish and they require less maintenance – e.g. watering.
Our trees and shrubs are still looking good, although our deciduous trees have nearly lost their leaves and beautiful colours now. However, the structure of the branches, berries and coloured bark on some varieties still give some great interest during the winter months. Our Prunus subhirtella ‘Autumnalis’ and Prunus subhirtella ‘Autumnalis Rosea’ are showing their delicate flowers now and they should last well into the winter.
Trees and shrubs and all things gardening play such an important role in our lives and our environment too. This has been very apparent this year, and it is heartening to learn that so many more people have chosen to take up gardening. This is so good for our gardens, our surroundings and our mental health too.
We have an excellent selection of deciduous and evergreen trees in stock. If you would like some help and advice on which trees to plant in your garden, that are suitable for your conditions, we would be delighted to help you. Our knowledgeable staff are always available to help and advice on the right plants for you.
We shall look forward to your visit, but feel free to contact us should you have any enquiries before your visit.
